Stream Pausing on a T1

okay, i'm very new to this streaming technology. I have my computer running winamp and encoding it at 96kbps at 44,100khz stereo. now i have a cable modem directly attached to that computer, and stream that to a server at my work that is connect to a FULL T1, when users connect to that server the hear pausing. and skiping. Keep in mind this is with 5 users.... When i stream from my cable modem, to the server, does the server break up the stream into 5 differnt streams, or does my computer playing winamp do that. And what is the best encoder settings to use..
Thanks!

have you run a bandwidth test on this line? www.dslreports.com could handle testing it. It sounds like there is not enough bandwidth at the server? Could you post a link to your server?

yes there is plenty of bandwidth. I was wondering if it is possible that the link between my cable modem and the server with the t1 could be the problem, i have 256kbps up that should be fine..

well that speed will work. But something could be regulating the useage in some way or the connectivity could be bad between you and the server, or between the server and the clients, that's why I asked for a link so I can varify the problem here as well.

the server only requires 1 source stream, that's sort of why it exists.

The Winamp/DSP combo sends 1 output stream to the dnas.

The DNAS takes that as an input and sends 1 output for every connected listener.

Correct me if I'm wrong.
