Question can't read mp3-cd when winamp is running

i was playing some mp3 files off my hdd when i tried to copy some different mp3 files off a cd, but when i put the cd into my dvd-drive it said that the cd was blank, the same happened when i put the cd into my cd-rw drive...with nero i could see that the files where on the cd (as i imported the last session)

as soon as i quit winamp3, the mp3 files on the cd appear in the explorer...

anyone got a idea where this phenomenon could emerge from ?

Post Similar problem

I have a similar problem, when Winamp3 is running, allmost every cd i insert in my DVD-ROM or CD-Writter appears as Blank CD. And I only have to close Winamp3 to read cd's normally again...

(Sorry for my bad english.... )

me too

I've got a CDROM, DVD/CDRW and a CDRW drive and they all stop working when Winamp is running. Until I went through the preferences and turned off EVERYTHING to do with the cd playback, even CDDB. Now at least I have control of my CD-Rom drives again!

Its taken me a week to track this down, I thought it was a nice little 'feature' of windows or my IDE controllers going on the friz... but no its just plain ole Winamp3...

System
WinXP SP1
1Ghz AMD
768Mb RAM
(Lite-On CDRW 40x12x48)
(Memorex DVD/CDRW TriMaxx200 24x6x4x4)
(Generic 32x CDROM)

Happens also with my other PC
WinXP No Service Pack
850Mhz AMD
(LG 52x CDROM)
512Mb RAM
