Playlist Drag n' Drop Bug
Just wanted to let you know about a bug in Winamp 2.81 and earlier versions.
Scenario: You want to play an entire cd of some artist you like... Open your mp3 folder, start playing the first track by double clicking on it. Great... Starts playing, you like it, and want to play more. Select with your mouse the second track, hold down shift, and select the LAST track. Drag with the mouse the now selected range of mp3 to the playlist window, by clicking and holding on the LAST track as you do so. Notice that the last track and the first track have now flipped positions in the playlist, even though every other track in the selection you just dragged has been sorted correctly. Now, try making the same selection as before, except this time, drag on the FIRST track as you do so, and notice now that the new playlist is sorted correctly. I suspect the reason for the bug has to do with how Windows Explorer provides the list of filenames, and passes the selected under mouse as first in the list, with the rest given from the selected array. Stupid. That's just my opinion. I'm not a windoze programmer, nor do I wish to be. ;-) Can someone validate my reality by posting to this forum after re-enacting what I did? Thanks! Old news . . .
![]() From The Official Winamp 2x Bug List 18/08/01 continued [unrevised] 2) Some people are complaining that Winamp isn't sorting the playlist properly when using drag+drop dir, or "dir context menus", regardless of the settings in Prefs -> Options (Sort files on load/read titles on load). Apparently it only works properly when using the Add Files/Dir button in Winamp Playlist Editor... This way the files are automatically ordered by filename (as intended), whereas with the other methods they seem to be ordered by FAT32 allocation or date created instead. Possibly a Windows related bug, not sure? More info here, here and here |
