Volume Control Issues

Everytime I play a song in Winamp, the volume control on my computer goes all the way down. When I play a song in Windows Media Player, the song plays fine. Any song played in Winamp will automatically cause the volume control to go all the way down, even when it changes to a new song. I try and put the volume control back to where it was, but then when a new song plays, it hits quiet again. I have to go through all this crap again just to hear any song. I use Winamp 2 and have been for quite some time. My operating system is Windows ME. This is a recurring nightmare, so please help me please.
