winamp problems playing shoutcast streams
I had winamp 2.77 on my machine (P4, 1300 mhz) and I finally got a broadband connection (Yahoo SBC DSL) again. (I moved from a big city into a broadband Dead Zone.) I tried to go back to shoutcast.com and play some of the streams. Instead of playing them, the program threw up an Open dialog box as if I was going to play something off my hard drive.
I had RealOne installed, so I uninstalled it. I uninstalled winamp 2.77 and installe winamp 2.81. Now, when I click on one of the "tune in" buttons, instead of the dialog box, it just lays there and displays "shoutcast-playlist" in the playlist area. Is there any way to fix it short of going into the (shudder) registry? |

This is weird. I have Opera (an alternative browser) installed on my system. I went into Opera and went to shoutcast.com and it played just fine. Is the problem in the browser? (I have no idea what this browser is that was included with SBC Yahoo. It has bookmarks like Netscape instead of favorites like Exploder, the version number is screwy, ...)

Yes, empty the Internet Explorer cache. It's got too full or corrupt.
Close IE Right click IE desktop icon Select: Properties Temporary Internet Files -> Delete -> Okay Also take a look in the "Settings" and make sure the cache size isn't set too large. |
