Winamp2.81 stalls when OPEN dialog opened...

Problem: Winamp 2.81 stalls, using 100% CPU usage for 30 seconds or longer, when a file with multiple periods is in the directory when opening files.

Example: Put a file "This.will.confuse.winamp.a.lot.txt" into a directory (i.e. "C:\temp").

In Winamp, hit the load (open) button, and navigate to "C:\temp".
Winamp will stall for a considerable amount of time before displaying the list of files available. (even if there is only one file in the directory).
Increasing the number of file names with extra periods in them will signigificantly increase the stall time (to the point of taking several minutes to get the directory listing).

Renaming the file, removing any extra period's will eliminate the stall.

My computer: PIII/500, Win2K w/all patches, happens on both FAT32 & NTFS partitions.


Anyone else experience this problem?

I noticed Winamp 3.x does not have this problem...
