Enable Sound Card Digital Output
I have just upgraded to Winamp 3. On earlier version I had a digital reader plugin that enabled the sound card digital outputs. It does not appear to work with the new rev. Does anyone have a suggestion? Windows 98 is the OS.

I am using the digital output of my sound card to connect to hi fi system and use the D/A converter in the strereo preamp. I think the application (Winamp) needs to enable the digital output and had a plugin that did that. The analog sound card output works fine. Normally I am playing wav files from hard disk.

windows and your soundcard driver control the soundcard, not winamp
try switching the output plugin (directsound or waveout) your soundcard should always play through all output interfaces it has, i never had a soundcard with a digital out though which windows version and what soundcard model do you have? maybe someone with the same card can help edit: do you use the lastest directx version and soundcard drivers? |

After reading some other suggestions, I tried turning off direct sound and the card digital out worked. Now, however, it works with direct sound on or off. Makes no sense to me but all is well. Thanks for your suggestions.
For info, the sound card is a digital labs card deluxe which I recommend to anyone looking for a high end device, but it is expensive. |
