I'm ineligible for military service, due to my asthma and my crohn's. If I had to serve anyway, it'd be the Air Force, because that's where my mom and one of my uncles ended up. Something of a tradition there.

I'm actually the first member of my immediate family NOT to enter the military. My mom, as I said was in the air force. My dad was in the air force. One uncle and two cousins in the Army, one cousin in the Navy, one cousin in the Marines (and I swear we didn't get the same cousin back from them), and a great-grandfather in the Imperial German Army...(part of my family fought on the wrong side of WW I).

Flypaper for the walking wounded since 1997

Lemme clear something up... being in the Air Force doesn't mean you have to fly. It doesn't even mean that you ever have to get on a plane. And they have Humvees, too (not too many Hummers, though It was pretty fun going onto the base right after Sept. 11th and seeing a guy sitting on top of a Humvee with an M16 pointed right at you hehe.

And no, there's no single "best branch"; they're all very necessary. But there are a lot of differences, both in training and the actual work. Air Force basic training and officer training are both very easy compared to Army or Marines. A lot of people in the AF are there for brain power, not grunt power.

I'll tell you, they certainly do treat you right though! They really take care of their members.

My dad was Navy, and Chris is AF, though, so I'm kinda torn But the Blue Angels can kick anyone's ass any day

the marines blow it up
the army puts up a defensive perimeter
the air force leases it for 5 years
and the navy paints it
correction: the marines secure it and put up a defensive perimiter. then they let the army take over, and then they lose the building to the enemy so the marines have to go secure it again.

(my grandpa was in the marines in the korean war and this happend to him over 4 hills. all the army does is sit on their asses one weekend a month two weeks a year picking their noses)

As a present active partisipant let me break it down for you...

Navy - Intellectual but on a metal boat with 500 other men six months out of the year...and all are called semen...

Marines - The few, the proud, the first to die....

Coast Guard - Ever time some moron in a sailboat screws up they have to step in, might as well be a cop...

Army - Be all you can be while living in a hole and learning how to grunt in unison

Air Force - We sit back and drink beer while we send our officers out to die first...

But the hell with it all anyway......
Long live WinAmp
