getting started...

Can anyone outthere help me getting started making skins, i'm a total newbie, and i would like to make them for winamp2.81....
i do know how to make avs though, if that can help me....
so, if anyone wanna help a newbie, don't hesitate!!! please!?!

1) Read the winamp forums charter announcement, there's a section on getting started skinning there.

2) Download a template, suggestion would be Skinner's Atlas by Jelby, which was just updated at http://www.1001winampskins.com , the readme file in there also has a lot of good info and instructions as well as the templates for everything and a cursor multiplying program. Download a trial version of a good graphics proggie (PSP or PS) if you're not already acquainted with either.

3) Browse through the threads a bit, there's a current one of tips and tricks of skinning, which db is putting on a website.

4) Don't be worried about asking "stupid" questions as you're skinning, we all started somewhere When you post screenshots of work in progress, post in jpeg or png format since bmps usually open other people's programs to view. When you get that far, simply start one thread and use it as you progress if you want continued input and advice.
