white noise in background?
Is anyone else experiencing white noise in the background when playing anything? For those that dont know, white noise is that soft "shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh" in the background. bc of it, the music sounds distant and muffled, a problem i never had using the older winamps. its not a problem with the equalization.
any help anyone can provide i would be greatful for. |

Update your sound card drivers. Go to the website of your sound card manufacturer and follow your nose.

Try uncheck "Enable DirectSound" in Preferences/Audio.
I had the same problem, but now it's OK. |

WA 3 white noise
I had the white noise on one of my computers while playing streams from the web( and the white noise got worse the longer the WinAmp played the streaming audio)...... I went as far as disabling the sound logic on my PC Chips mother board (system is a white box K6-500), and installing a creative labs sound blaster, but the white noise persisted (on that computer).....two of my other PCs never exhibited the problem.... one is an emachine eTower 466i, and the other is my Compaq P3 800 mhz Laptop. Those two computers sound wonderful playing streaming audio w/ WA3.
