Play downloaded tracks (songs)
Here comes a REAL newbie:
I never paid much attention to Winamp, even though it's been on my computer for a few years. I found that if I put a CD into my DVD drive, it'll play the disc in the background while I do other things. (Can you believe I JUST began to use this feature. Now here's the deal.... I've saved some tacks into a folder called my music on my hard drive. Winamp will let me access the folder, click or and open the track but then does nothing! I know I've probably done 50 things wrong, but I hope that's what this forum is for. How do I download from a disc in my E: drive to a folder on my C: drive and then make it so I can play it back without having the CD in the E: drive anymore? I hang my head in shame..... I imagine everyone in the world knows how to do this except me! Any comments? I would really like to know how to do this simple thing and I'm using an old Winamp, maybe winamp 2? billydee |

You can't copy audio cds directly like you can data CDs, all you will get is the RIFF headers, and if they are not on a CD they will have no sound data to work with.
Audio tracks need to be 'ripped' so the sound data will be copied as well, and then compressed as .mp3 or .ogg to fit on your hard drive. There are many programs that will do this, one of the easiest is 'CDex' (easily found on Google), it will rip and compress all in one go. UJ |
