first you have to establish if you have it setup locally or thru the internet.
I assume you want ppl in the world to hear your station. You need to make sure you have the Source setup properly. GET the IP your ISP assigned you. Weather its dynamic or static. once you've established that go to the source (dsp) and click on the output tab. make sure output 1 is selected. under "connection" you will have an address field. enter your ISP IP there. leave port, pword and encoder 1 alone. make sure automatice reconnect box is check and set to whatever seconds is there. next click on the encoder tab. make sure encoder 1 is selected. in the encoder drop down menu select "mp3 encoder". now you have to determine what "encoder setting" you want. if you set it too high it will chop out for the listeners. for your connection has to push out the bitrate. i have 1.5mb/768kb dsl and i have 96kbps at 44 100kHz stereo. its good sound but not TOP NOTCH and small enough to send out w/out chopping. I'd leave the Input tab alone, unless you want to broadcast. I mean by talking. that entales more typing and i dont' think your ready for that yet but who am i to say if your ready or not. if you want to know how just ask.Once taht is all done you should be all set to broadcast. just give out ppl your IP with the port. like for instance mine is as follows: http://66.93.83.164:8000 if ppl put that in IE they will be taken to a url with some stats and what not. they can then click "listen" from the page. OR, they can open WINAMP2 and hit ctrl+L. This will open the "open location" window. they can then put that same address into the field and hit "open". it will then start playing music from the shoutcast server. hope all goes well for you. |
