Playlist woes

I need help. I have a large mp3 collection which I'm sure most people do, and I can't seem to save certain songs to my playlist. I have re-downloaded them a few times, and I'm just wondering if this is a problem, or perhaps there is a limitation to how many songs the playlist can store? I am using Winamp 2, I downloaded winamp 3, and I was able to save them there, but Winamp 2 runs smoother on my machine. Any suggestions? (besides upgrading to 3)

Thanks

Derek
