Does Winamp3 Contain A Virus?

I was just wondering why my anti-virus proggy detects a worm that attaches itself to every executable (.exe) and opens a backdoor to your computer allowing people to enter other people to secretly and efficiently spike your IP makeing your internet connection undesierbly slow or even your computer slow.

Winamp is a great program, I'm just asking this question because everytime my anti-virus delets WINAMPW.EXE, it simply looks for winampw and it says it cant open the desired file. some times the situation gets so bad I have to format my computer. Usually just re-installing windows fixes it.

I want you winamp guys to look into this cause i'm not going to install winamp untill its confirmed that it has been fixed.
I LUBB YOU WINAMP PPLEASE BE FIXED. or atleast tell me what the hell the problem is.

Winampw.exe isn't part of Winamp, but a virus in itself.

Read this thread for a more detailed explanation.

I was wondering about this. Funnily enough since I formatted last week. I haven't put w3 bakc in yet or 2.8 for the matter. To busy with graphics.
I have noticed more stuff being blocked by my firewall [I'm a sneaky git I put a new one in ] and also my task manager show's a 15-20& increase in performance to before. Every thing is stable and no probs.
Seeing this earlier had me thinking, These problems allways start to appear when I do use winamp3? And I know add-aware found something in winampstudio.exe.
So what is the score on it ?
just wondering is all

Actually Winamp may contain code in the AVS section to alter your mind using subliminal messaging.
These subliminal messages have already started working on regulars of the forum as they continue to deny their knowledge of the Shadow Govt and aliens.

No. No actually it doesn't. It's all in your mind! Don't forget to take your pills this lunchtime... though they don't seem to do much good

It's winamp3.exe, actually.

And there are no known instances of viruses or spyware being distributed in a Nullsoft product. Check with your anti-spyware/antivirus vendors for updated definition files if you think Winamp or Winamp3 is at fault. Current adaware doesn't flag it, current AVG antivirus doesn't flag it...those two verifications are good enough for me.

I was away for a while.
But I'm feeling much better now.
