Running Multiple Streams?
I have a DNAS server up and running. I use WinAMP 2.82 and the DSP plugin that feeds DNAS. It has 6 encoders. I would gather that it might be possible to have more than one encoder running simultaneously.
I wish to have two streams available: One for broadband users and one for dialup. I configured two encoders, one at 56K and one at 24K. My problem is that I can only start one at a time. Obviously there is more to this puzzle than I am addressing. Is it possible to have multiple streams off one PC? Do I need multiple DNAS servers running? Multiple IP addresses? Any guidance would be helpful. Thanks.. |

Just a quick answer. you have everything set up correctly except one thing, need to run 2 DNAS's with seperate ports.

Thanks for the information on setting up multi-rate. This should be interesting, because the server is an old Pentium 200MMX with 64MB RAM. Currently, Win 98 System Monitor shows CPU kernal usage between 2% and 11%, so maybe there's enough juice to add another server and start up a second encoder. This is a bare bones system!

Just got it up and running a little while ago... two streams--on a Pentium 200MMX and it's using 88% CPU kernal utilization on Win 98. Skip-free listening for the last hour that it's been up. Got two computers streaming each of the streams to stress the system. So far, so good!
