Shoutcast playlist
I haven't used Shoutcast in a while, but last I did, I recall using a *very* simple method to create a real-time playlist. All that occured was the writing of the current song and X number of previous songs to an html file on the local hard disk. No php, javascript, or perl. Perhaps a plug-in, I'm not sure. It was convenient because my Shoutcast server was also my webserver, so the local file could just be saved to webserver directory.
I can't find anything regarding this or any alike process anywhere. I know I used it, and I'm asking for anyone who knows to give me some insight. |

Were you using SAM?
That's the only tool I can think of that can spit out html with what you want. It's quite possible that Jay (KXRM) at RadioToolbox has a tool that does the same thing. Else, check out the Sticky post titled... SHOUTcast: Important Info & Answers to FAQs. READ ME! Scroll down a bit and look for the section titled... It was not nearly that complex, and I'm 99% positive it wasn't MySQL based since my webserver has never run that before.

SAM1.3 was not MySQL based.
SAM2 is and has evolved to be much more flexible in both operation and maintenance. While SAM2 may be complex, once you give it an honest try, you'll be a much happier broadcaster Honest = more than 1 hour, more than 1 day, more than 1 week.I've been using the SAM's for 3 years and don't know how stations can operate without it. I'm a little biased, eh? ![]() Try it, love it. If you run into problems, join the AudioRealm mailing list. Many folks, including the developers, are ready to assist in getting your SAM working. Some will go as far as remote connecting to help setup. |

Hmmm, SAM eh? Interesting, I'll give it a look for sure. For the most part, I only broadcast to family/friends.
From what else I've remembed, the HTML output was a Shoutcast related function. Perhaps CurrentLog or something of the sort? Hmmmm.... it just threw the current song at the top in its own table, and previously played songs below that in a larger table. I'm pretty sure, since it only wrote to my local disk, that the html was generated without a stream (aka - offline). I'm not *positive*, but quite sure. |

The feature you are speaking of has been removed from the DNAS and now the preferred method is to use the generated XML or use a third party tool.

How exactly does the XML work? The same manner in which the HTML did?
*Edit* More importantly, how can I generate a file to my local drive. |
