Few questions about DJ's

Hi again,

I have done a search about Two DJ's and think i have got my answer but just have a few questions...

Can you tell me if this is right on how to set it all up.

(1) Make sure the other person who wants to DJ Has winamp (Not Winamp 3) and downloads the Plug in and the server program thing.

(2) Then install it all and open the server program and winamp

(3) They enter my IP address in the address box, port, password etc...

(4) Then need to make sure that they untick the box to put the station in the Yellow pages.

(5) Then they can just click on connect and start to play the tunes.

Please can you tell me if this is correct? Here are my other questions...

Can i say keep a blank MP3 going on my pc while the other DJ Is playing or cant i do anything like this? Must my winamp not be connected so the other DJ can play?

In the server program (sorry forgot what it is called) where you can edit the settings i found the following:

; SrcIP, the interface to listen for source connections on (or to make relay
; connections on if relaying). Can and usually will be ANY or 127.0.0.1
; (Making it 127.0.0.1 will keep other machines from being able to
; broadcast using your shoutcast server )
SrcIP=ANY

If i set it to 127.0.0.1 this will stop other DJ's connecting wont it? If then i set it to ANY Will this let other DJ's connect then after can i set it again so they cannot connect?

And can i ask i have heard a few stations that mix straight into there next tracks without a gap. Are these just winamp plugins?

Thanks in advanced,

Woooah there boy!!

I`ve just woken up so I`m not really with it just yet...I`ll read your post more carefully later but yes, about the mixing/fading thing, this is a plug-in for winamp...I think you get it as standard with winamp (or the DSP) but you can get to it if you go to:

Options> Preferences> Output> Null Crossfading Output

There`s a load of stuff you can mess with but I`d keep with the default settings. You need to keep this plug-in selected then click on close to initiate it.....right then, time for coffee.

Your algorithm for another DJ to connect to your server is mostly correct.

In #1, whack " and the server program thing"
In #2, whack " the server program and "

Since you are the server, they don't need one.

As the inline comment says:
Making it 127.0.0.1 will keep other machines from being able to broadcast using your shoutcast server.

If you keep SrcIP as any, then other folks will be able to broadcast on your server. Making it 127.0.0.1 will keep other machines from being able to broadcast using your shoutcast server.

Oops, forgot to address that issue

No, unless you use some conferencing software/hardware to combine the two sources before sending to the DNAS.

There have been many threads on this matter with solutions/theorys ranging in degrees of difficulty.

Check out the results from a SHOUTcast forum search on 'multiple djs'.

Thanks for that! Everything seems ok now... Final Q that i have just thought off. I put a realy simple password in when i was setting up the station. Is there any way i can change it now? I did change it in the DNAS and on Winamp but it said invalid password so i changed it back and has worked. But would like to change it.

Did you restart the DNAS after making the password change?

Thanks it has worked this time, i must have not reset the DNAS last time.

I must say a BIG Thank You to everyone that has helped me over the past few days, I would have not been able to set my station up if it wasn't for guys. I'm getting more used to Shoutcast now and find it very easy, and a great resource!

I hope you all take care of yourselves and thanks again,
