Winamp Process Priority resets

I am using WinAmp 2.81 and I have the follwing problem. If I set the WinAmp process priority to "Above Normal" using Windows 2000 Task Manager, every time I play an MP3 file the process priority resets to "Normal".

My output plug-in is Direct Sound 2.2.1 and it does not have any settings about that. I guess that the input plug-in used for decoding MP3 files is Nullsoft MPEG Audio Decoder 2.81b. It has such a setting and it is set to "Highest (Default)". If this matters, I have a Shoutcast source plug-in running constantly using the soundcard line-in input (this is the reason why I want to change the WinAmp process priority - when there is a high CPU load, the stream starts to skip if the WinAmp process priority is "Normal").

Is there a workaround for this?

Winamp -> Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> Options
Move the Process Priority Class slider accordingly
Default = normal (which is why it kept resetting)
Options: Idle | Normal | High | Realtime

Note: High & Realtime are not recommended
so use at your own risk.

Also install the official wa2update patch
for latest DirectSound Output (and more)

Thank you for your reply! Unfortunately this did not solve my problem - the WinAmp process indeed sets to "High" when you play an MP3 file and resets to "Normal" when you stop it. This would be perfect for most of the users, of course, but it is not very convenient in my case. I guess that I will eventually end using 2 WinAmps - one for the Shoutcast source and one for playing anything else. I suppose I will have to play with this a bit to get it working right.

Thanks once again, drop a line if you have any other ideas.

Sorry, but I can't reproduce this phenomenum.
If I set Winamp's process priority to high in:
Winamp -> Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> Options
it stays high until I change it back.
It doesn't change back to normal when the track ends, or when a new track starts.
