The funny thing is that the clock speed is actually SLOWER than the 2800+s!

Just finished reading a whole pile of reviews, and it seems in most real world aplications it does come close and in most cases beats the P4 3.06.
I'll wait and see what intel comes up with now, since im planning one more upgrade before the 64 bit processors become mainstream, but the bartons look good at the moment. |

The bartons will work in any socket A motherboard. But some may need the bios flashed to recognise it properly.
The only real problem is the fsb speed, unless your mobo and ram can handle a 166 fsb it'll run 1/5th slower than it should, so it'd only give around the same performance as a much cheaper 2400+. |

On another note, YAY!!! AMD is back on top again. Hopefully, the 64-bit series will give them a longer strech on top! Freedom of speech is the basic freedom of humanity. barton isn't as expected to perform as well as AMD expected..Prices..are a tsk tsk..man..Athlon is done with after 5 some years...just bring out Hammer. Intel is tearing it up with P4.as of now as AMD had earlier did with 1st/2nd Gen Athlons vs P3s |

they also released the 2500+, with the Barton core running # 1.833ghz and has a 512k cache and runs on the 333mhz bus, and at only $180 its a steal, my next CPU will be that
