Cannot listen to any Shoutcast servers
Read the Linksys Router for Dummies thing, but that is for servers not for people who just want to listen to stations. What ports do I need to open for my Linksys Router to allow Shoutcast stations?
UPDATE: Shoutcasts work fine on Windows Media Player, but I hate it, so Winamp seems to be a problem.. what could it be? Last edited by rishid; 21st February 2003 at 16:08. |

Are you behind a firewall or something? That may be the issue

Pretty sure I am NOT. No Zonealarm or anything, going to connect cable modem directly to a computer and see if it works.

You shouldn't need to configure a router to listen. What version of Winamp are you using so I can move this to the appropriate forum?

Please explain "doesn't work / can't listen" in as much detail as possible.
What have you tried? What happens / doesn't happen exactly? Are your connection settings correct in Winamp Prefs -> Setup? Can you get a stream to play by copying the "Tune In" link and pasting it into Winamp's Open Location box? Any error messages? Have you tried emptying the internet cache? etc etc Please include Windows OS in reply. |

I click Tune In on shoutcast.com server, win amp starts, it buffers the station then starts playing. The timer increments as if it was playing. I do not get any errors about connections or anything.
Using Windows XP Tried the File -> Open Location -> Past in a URL from Shoutcast, does same thing as clicking Tune In button. |

Ahh fixed it the easy way, quick uninstall and reinstall. And all is working. Thanks for all the help.
