please help me get my shoutcast broadcasting!

Do I need to go through a server or can I just stream through my cable modem? If so, what do I do now? i've installed the software but i'm stuck. sorry for bieng a total spaz.

You can just your pc as a server. All you have to do is set up the DNAS program and get Winamp started. Making sure you have changed the password and port if needed and enter info about your station then make sure the DNAS program is open then go into Winamp make sure the Shoutcast plug in is open and click on Connect.

To get people to listen in goto www.whatismyip.com and put your IP address in where I have put "youripaddresshere." And the port is set to default 8000.

I do that, but people say that that cant connect and listen. what do i do?

If you are running on a network you need to make the DNAS forward's the streem through the main computer if you are running a network try running it under port 124. And make sure you get the IP address that the world can see not the network IP address.

But also if you are running a firewall on your PC make sure you have set Winamp and the shoutcast DNAS in your trusted ap's and if your firewall supports Trusted Ports add your port to the firewall.

The port number is what the shoutcast DNAS will understand as the way through to your broadcast. So that port will be your shoutcast port to broadcast.

The password is only for the admin feature really. But must be changed for the default.

Have you changed the password yet?

Ok you need to go into the SHOUTCAST DNAS program which can be found In Stat --> Programs. When its open click on EDIT CONFIG and move down to the page till you find

Password=thepassword

where it says thepassword put a password of your choice in. Then save the file, close it and reset the DNAS program (The one you just have been in.)

Then go into Winamp and make sure the Shoutcast Plug in is open click on CONNECTION and put the password you just did in the password box. Everything should now be set up.

Make sure the DNAS program is open then click on CONNECT and see if you start broadcasting!
