MSN messenger in shoutcast

why not include msn messenger in next version?

it´s the fastest growing chat program and is included in xp which of course makes it very popular...

it´s worth to think about

/maxie @ maxies station

techno trance house....not 24/7 but still worth to check out

why not make it bloated and huge and add useless features that no one needs!!

It should also burn CD's

Seriously those features are unneccessary, you can already connect to MSN you can already connect to IRC why should SHOUTcast connect to IRC?

Well, it has only 2 messengers. I dont think it would be too hard to add 2 more.

OT: maybe edit the IRC feature to connect to a user defined server and not the default server.

I really don't think shoutcast would endorse yahoo, MSN, ect I don't see it happening.

Already there is work arrounds if you have a website. I think that works fine in some cases. But I see where some people want a way to contact the broadcaster. I think this acctually could be done with a smart plugin creator,, hint hint anybody. I have dreams about it really

Server mesenger: The DJ's main way to recieve messages and junk, has the abblity to kick , ban ect.

Client messenger: The listeners way to send and recieve messgaaes in real time through the server.

The server and clients can all be combined to make a chatroom in that cast you have AIM similar chatroom controls, with the option of the server messanger. But the server messanger would be the "Moderator" so If you have this vision as I do please let me know. I believe it could be possible as a plug in within winamp 2.

See it would not be within the broadcaster someone would have to download it. So Peace dogs. Hope i gave some ideas to kick arrround.

Here is a very good idea. fix the dsp and dnas and have direct im link between the 2. so, people can contact the broadcaster via an html im built into the dnas, and it will go directly to the dsp and maybe come up in a custom im window. sound like a good idea?

no it sounds like an open door to security issues. I really feel that any addons where someone can send messages to the server like this is a bad idea. Just run an IRC channel somewhere and post a link on your website. Plus one of the many things I love about shoutcast is it's simplicity.

somebody shall find a way to keep security issues at a mininum! Hey exposing your IP address on shoutcast is a security issue. You just need to know how to keep yourself protected, such as ad-aware and zone-alarm or any other type of firewall.

On this proposed chat program your not gonna file share or anything. Just simply send chat messages. Also html could be a great feature to add into it. Only with Moderator privilages!

There has to be a programer out there somewhere right?

I dont see how it would be too hard. all it would really need is to have a link between the dnas and dsp. which that is already done. then just recode the dnas and dsp. the dsp would need code built in that would popup a new window for the message. the dnas would just need a new page with a client chat built in.

yes your right. Are you for me or against me? I think of the server and client something that isn't built into the dnas (which I wouldn't care) but something that you call winamp for. go to the dsp section if you catch my drift

yeah. im for you. or even a better idea. just have both the admin and clients go to an irc like chat built in to the dnas. the dj would just have to go to the winamp minibrowser to access.

Im just hoping some programmers from nullsoft are reading this. cuz this would be a worthwhile feature.

ok just get an irc server and be done with it, I still don't see why one needs to be inside of shoutcast, it doesn't have any functional purpose. But I have said my peace on this matter.

Whaaa??? KXRM are you against us??? How dare you. Your a king, but kings heads can be chopped off!

hehe I'm just kidding.

As PokeRadio guy over there said this should be a feature in a minibrowswer type interface!! yes.

but I just thought of something, winamp 3 uses couldn't have the advantage of the plug in. how about a html (winamp 3 version) and a plugin (winamp 2.X) version! We need to brainstorm on this matter. because this is about our needs you see, we have a want I KNOW somebody can make it happen

The features you're requesting can be realized with third party utilities already.

There is no panacea application.

Combine the right tools necessary for your station to get the job out of it you want.
