Tattoo for my birthday...
I think I've finally decided to go for it and get a tattoo for my birthday. If I don't chicken out at the last minute... I want to get wings on my back. I don't think I've seen a whole lot of people with that done... then again, I don't go around asking chicks to pull their shirts up so I can see their backs
![]() Anyway, here's a picture that's KIND OF similar to what I want to get, especially the bottom of the wings... http://www.amybrownart.com/images02_...re_element.jpg I guess I want something that's almost delicate, but not really fairy-ish or butterfly-ish. I have some drawings I did, just a couple dozen lol, and the ones I like best are similar to tribal tattoos... but I don't think I'll get them filled in. Just an outline (although I've heard that hurts the worst). They probably won't be any bigger than a few inches tall. I've gotten some recommendations on some good parlors around here, and I've read up on taking care of them and all that... So tell me your good and bad experiences with tattoos! Draw me some ideas! Convince me one way or the other! (although I'm prolly gonna get it no matter what you all say HA!)

If you want anything with a lot of detail like that picture then you need to make sure your tattoo artist is good. Otherwise it may come out looking like crap. Have fun with it.

Tattoos on women (and most men, but especially women) look trashy, IMHO. Whatever though, it's your skin.

I've seen someone who had a picture of a watch tatooed on his wrist that said "NOW", so whenever anyone asked him the time he would show them that. Thought that was pretty clever.

I always wanted to get a bar code on my wrist, so I could walk up to a cash register and scan it

LOL!
I think tattoos on some parts of the feminine body makes them very appealing. A girl I know has an Angel Wing above her buttcrack..and its reddish too! I'd say don't do it. Don't waste your time or money. I just don't get the whole tattoo thing. Is a tattoo suppose to make you a tough guy. I don't think a big gay angel on your back will make you tough guy. I know alot of people have them. Big deal. Just another reason not to get one. If you were in the navy back in 43' and you got an ancor on your arm........maybe. And maybe if your a rock star or a gang member Are you?
And on a women tattoos (to me) looks gross as f#$%! Big turn off. If you like art work buy a beautiful picture and hang it on your wall. Another reason not to is its forever in most cases. If you want to make a statement use your mind not your skin. For all your guys with tats now I really don't care. I don't think it makes you look tough thought, Unless your a rock god. I know on women they are gross. And here is the biggest reason of all not to get a tatoo. What if you get one. Then another. Then another. Then another. You get hooked on them like some people do. Well this is you in about 10 years. |

Nope, not a statement... I just don't care what I look like anyway. I figure I can't get any uglier than what I am now, so why should it matter? I don't turn guys on either way.

If you want a tattoo, then get one. Before you get it, make sure you look at the picture of the tattoo that you want at least once a day for about a month(or more). If you still want it after the month is up, get it. Otherwise, try something else - another tattoo, piercing, whatever. If you can't live with it on a piece of paper for a month then there is no way you can live with it on your body for your entire life.

It'll be on my back... I won't have to look at it
![]() I may just have Chris draw it on in Sharpie or something, just to see. Maybe just pen... Sharpie bleeds too much. |

The big thing is the time that you will have it on you. You have to be able to live with it for a long time(your entire life).

Being tattoooed, I can tell you that the glamour wears off quickly. It becomes no more than your other bodily anormalities aka moles, birthmarks, etc.
Funny thing is, most people I know, including myself, seek to cover the original with something else that more matches the current trend or thought. |

also as someone with tattoos, there is a couple things id recommend. the first would be to make sure you are completely and totally happy with the final design (before it is inked in) as you will be living with it forever, and its even better if this design has some sort of personal meaning or significance. If theres no meaning at all behind it, theres a greater chance that down the road, you will dislike the ink and be possibly ashamed, altho this isnt always true. the 2nd would be to find a GOOD shop to get it done at. shop around, go in and watch someone else being inked, thoroughly go through portfolios (if the artist has none, just leave) to see what kind of work they have done in the past. ask about sterilization, etc.
other than that, have fun! tattoos can be pretty special, and (to me at least) a source of pride

I think it looks really good on women. I say go for it if you (and Chris) think it suits.
