my broadcast sounds like chipmunks!
I'm trying to set up a server on my local machine broadcasting some artists from a country we like to vacation in. I need to keep the bitrate down, my goal is 24kbps and only 4 users.
I using linux tools. I captured songs from my CDs using cdparanoia. I converted them to mp3's with Lame. This is where I converted them to 24kbps with options "--resample 22 -b 24 -q 0 ". I can listen to the results just find with XMMS locally. They are a little bandwidth-limited but I'll worry about that later. I'm having trouble with the broadcast, though. I'm using shoutcast-1-9-2-linux-glibc6 as the server and sc_trans_040 for the stream. I've conffigure the stream for the bitrate and sampling frequency with the following (all 6 seem to be necessary) Bitrate=24000 InputBitrate=24000 SampleRate=22050 InputSampleRate=22050 Channels=2 InputChannels=2 Problem is that when I listen to the broadcast strem, it's running at twice the speed. They sound like chipmunks. Any suggestions? In addition, can anyone suggest ways to get the best quality at 24kbps? Most of the streams i've found at this rate have plenty of quaiity for my needs. Thanks, Mike Ramsey |
