anyone elses winamp do this? i use 2.80, and whenever I look at an mp3's file info, under the MPEG info area....... it doesnt format it, it just comes out looking as one line (see the pic, the highlighted line). anyone know how to make it break into lines? it used to do that, but not anymore for some reason

Hi

No, I've never seen anything like this before.
Have you installed any 3rd-party plugins? (in_mp3pro, in_mad, gen_*.dll, etc)

ps. probably nothing to do with your problem, but please upgrade to 2.81 and then install the official wa2update patch.
Note: v2.9 will be released sometime next week.

nope, no plugins. Just did a fresh install of 2.81 a day or so ago, didn't change anything. Applied that patch thingie you linked for me (thx btw, didn't see that one before), but still no luck. It seems like winamp on my comp has stopped interpreting newline characters or something, because even in winamp shortcut key list and version history, I only see one line of text going off toward infinity to the right side of the box. If I do a select all, copy, and then paste into a txt file, then it shows all the text, formatted properly (suggesting the newline and other formatting characters are there). So I dunno why its doing this, its the only program making these errors.

Try the basic Uninstall -> Reinstall procedure.

hmm I guess my last reply didn't get posted, that was a couple days ago. Weird. Well I replied with something to the effect of: I've done complete removal and reinstall. I dunno how but the problem is still there in the new installation, even tho all my settings are gone. Anyone know of anything on a computer that Winamp accesses that could affect it in this way? It must be on my comp, cuz I haven't seen anyone have this problem... but whatever it is its only affecting winamp. How odd

I'm still a bit baffled.

You said:
"Anyone know of anything on a computer that Winamp accesses that could affect it in this way?"

The only thing Winamp accesses is the MPEG Header(s) in the actual MP3 file.

Check these mp3's for errors/corruption with MP3Utility

If they are vbr mp3's, try vbrfix

Hmm . . .
"...even in winamp shortcut key list and version history, I only see one line of text going off toward infinity to the right side of the box"

Most strange! This suggests that it's got nothing to do with the binary data in the mp3's then...

Are you using an English language version of Windows?
What is your Windows OS, btw?
Do any of the mp3 filenames or containing folder names include any non-English or irregular characters?

Have you tried moving some of the mp3's out of the Kazaa-Lite Shared folder, and into a folder with a shorter path? eg. C:\Music\

Have you tried running ScanDisk/Chkdsk, Defrag and Virus Scan?

Other things you can try:
Check for any spyware/scumware with Spybot Search & Destroy
Instructions for running Spybot S&D are here and here and here

btw, if anyone else here has got any suggestions, please feel free . . .

I don't think the mp3's are corrupt, I sent them to other people to check on their winamp, and the mpeg info looks correct. all the mp3's have normal characters, nothing out of the normal naming them.

ya, it just looks as if winamp isn't making new lines where it needs to.

I'm using windows XP with all the latest updates, english version.

virus scan and chkdsk I run often, I'll do a spyware search and try move the files around, see if that gives any better results.
