to add to that, would we be able to encode using the command line LAME using stdin stdout, the DLL is fine for some occasions, but I like to use the --presets, which the DLL doesn't allow (or if it does, I've never seen a client program take advantage of them properly), namely my command line args are this right now: --preset extreme -b32 -q0
which, for me, gets rather close to perfect results, and still in relatively small fizesizes (most of the time)
