1. The stereo versus mono debate is long and tiresome. Suggestion: Search Google and have fun. The main thing is: Do what you think sounds best. I'm probably going to get flamed three ways from Saturday for saying the above, but oh well.
2. If you have 50 slots, you have 50 slots. Contact your third party host to see if they'll give you more slots (also knows as maximum allowable simultaneous listeners) if you drop your bitrate. 3. 40 < 56. Therefore, 56 is better. However, the difference is relativeley small. If you were to compare that 40kbps with a 128kbps... This debate is also long and tiresome. I'm expecting further flames from those needing to argue.Again, you're buying a maximum allowable simultaneous listener number, not a bandwidth cap. If you were bandwidth strapped, then of course lowering the stream rate could allow more connections. See the FAQ for bandwidth calculators if necessary. 4. Encoding needs the processor. If you do other things that take away the necessary processing power, expect skips, pops, and other audio artifacts. Fix: Stream using a dedicated box. Concerning RIPCAST, read the rules. 5. Hmmm. Could be driver (audio and/or microphone) related. I'm not microphone experienced. 6. You'll need to use some conferencing hardware/software to combine your sources before sending to the DNAS. Need help with a particular package? I suggest contacting the authors. A forum search will produce several methods folks have tried. |
