Setting Up SHOUTcast Server
I have a Mac running OS 10.2.4 and I was wondering how I would go about setting up a SHOUTcast server. I downloaded the package from the website, configured the setup file, and started the server. I put a couple of songs in the content folder in the SHOUTcast folder and tried to connect. iTunes did not do anything and QuickTIme threw a -5402 error.

Sounds like your on-demand content isn't configured correctly.
Check out the Sticky post titled: SHOUTcast: Important Info & Answers to FAQs. READ ME! Scroll down a bit and look for the section titled: How to Setup On-Demand with SHOUTcast -> Sawg's Lame Rip-Off: On Demand Audio How to Setup On-Demand with SHOUTcast -> On Demand Audio (Radio Toolbox) |

Thanks for the advice...
I got my SHOUTcast sever working after I got my hands on to a copy of MacAmp Lite X. I read through some of the posts and found out that some people where not happy with the program and I was wondering if you could help me on how to set up sc_trans_posix server so that I can use than instead of MacAmp Light X. With SHOUTcast can you run more than one server at a time and if so who do you do this? Lastly is there any tools for remote admin the server. Can you get a more comprehensive connected user list like that of QuickTime Streaming Server? Thanks |

Q: I was wondering if you could help me on how to set up sc_trans_posix server so that I can use than instead of MacAmp Light X.
A: Maybe someone else can help. I have no experience in this area. Alternatively, browse/search the forums for a previous TS thread. Q: With SHOUTcast can you run more than one server at a time and if so who do you do this? A: Yes, you can either install the DNAS multiple times or instantiate the DNAS multiple times using a different configuration file. From the DNASs sc_serv.ini/conf file: code: Q: Lastly is there any tools for remote admin the server. A: Just the tools from the DNAS and log into the admin area Q: Can you get a more comprehensive connected user list like that of QuickTime Streaming Server? A: I don't know what their output is, but you can turn on ip resolving in the DNAS configuration. Also, log into your DNASs admin area and see if that is sufficient information |
