2 bugs: umlauts in ID3 tags and crash when closing

Both bugs are present in Winamp 2.8x as well as in Winamp 2.90. Both bugs are reproduceable.

My system:
Windows 2000 Professional German with Service Pack 3
DirectX 9.0
Winamp 2.90

Bugs:

1.) Winamp crash when closing

Step by step.
- first run winamp
- open the ID3-tag editor dialog
- leave the dialog window open. don't close it!
- click on the system-tray icon of winamp and select exit.
- winamp crashes!

(older versions of winamp might also crash with other dialogs. thanks to EddyB43 for correcting this)

2.) Umlauts aren't displayed correctly

- umlauts from ID3-tags (both v1 and v2) aren't displayed in the winamp main-window. instead of the umlaut a space/blank is displayed.
- the funny thing is, that the playlist-window displays them without any problems. every umlaut is displayed correctly!
- so there must be a difference between the playlist and the main-window function to read ID3-tags

thx, trin.

1. can't reproduce

2. ctrl(strg)+p > preferences > display > uncheck 'use bitmap font for main title display (no int. support)'

1.) Attached screenshot (winamp.png), hope this makes it more clear. Maybe its releated to Windows 2000.

2.) Thanks, that fixed the umlaut issue.

I can reproduce the first bug on Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3 installed, but only with the Alt+3 dialog. It worked on both the Alt+3 for a stream, and the ID3 tag editor for an MP3 so it's probably generic to that dialog. Open file dialogs, the Media Library etc. didn't cause it crash.

The crash itself was caused by an instruction attempting to read the exact memory location that stored the instruction (which varies, initial one was 0x00de4ac2).

you are right, with winamp 2.90 it only happens with the alt+3 (id3-tag editor) dialog, the option/prefernces dialog works fine. i remember some earlier version of winamp crashed also with other dialogs.
