Double Size is not working since DX9 Upgrade

Hello....

Last evening I decided to upgrade DirectX 8.1 to 9.0a. Ever since then, when I attempt to enable "Double Size" in winamp, I get no GUI.

It goes completely black. I only had the default skin using version 2.81. I logged onto winamp.com and downloaded v2.90 - same problem. So I went and downloaded some 3rd party skins (Plastic_JS_X and COLORS_4TAH) - Neither resolved the issue.

Upon surfing the Bug reports Forum I noticed some issues potentially with 3rd party plugins, So I removed all but the mp3 input and wave output. Mp3s play fine but (still) double size doesnt work.

Normal size works in all conditions.

I can left-click into the black rectangle (where the GUI should be) and can select the options that would normally be there so its just not drawing the actual graphics for some reason.

Double Size was working fine with DX 8.1 (and winamp 2.81)

System Specs:

Windows XP Pro w/ SP1
Athlon XP 2000+
Shuttle AK35GT2 mobo
256MB Samsung DDR333
BBA Radeon 8500 LE with 128 MB (CATALYST 03.1)
Creative Labs SoundB@stard (err Blaster) Live! Value (WDM driver version 5.1.2535.0)

I noticed a thread that said there were incompatibilites with ATI and CREATIVE products.. and a dll (DevCon32).

For the record I have version 4.6.0.651 of DevCon32 in my windows/system32 directory "opyright (C) Creative Technology Ltd. 2000-2001"

Any other information needed, I will try my best to answer. If you need a screenshot, I can provide one of those too (but just picture a completely black rectangle and you have seen the SS already)

I dont mind playing with settings if need be either... I would just really like a resolve for this issue.

Thank you for your time.

Just tested it on my machine, here are the specs:

Windows 2000 with Service Pack 3
Athlon Thunderbird 1.4GHz (one of those old 100MHz ones )
Gigabyte GA-7IXE4 motherboard
384Mb PC100 SDRAM
inno3D branded GeForce2 Ti 64Mb (running the 43.45 Detonators)
Creative Labs SBPCI128 (WDM ancient driver version 5.12.1.2045)

No issues whatsoever, I am using DirectX 9.0 (4.09.0000.0900). There were 2 quick releases of DX9.0a, so if you grabbed it as soon as it appeared you may want to get it again - the original 9.0a had issues.
I'd suspect it's an issue with the ATi drivers, or DX9.0a if you're using the original release.

*EDIT* I have just upgraded to DirectX 9.0a (4.09.0000.0901) (thought I already had) and double size still works. That pretty much narrows it down to an issue with the ATi drivers in my opinion.

Just to confirm, I installed the latest DX9.0a a few hours ago (thanks for bringing it to my attention) and Double Size mode is working ok.

As EddyB43 says, it's probably a video driver-specific problem, though you never said if you'd installed any 3rd-party Winamp plugins.
Any gen_*.dll files present in the Winamp\Plugins dir? (except for 2.90 Media Library - gen_ml.dll)

Basic Uninstall -> Reinstall procedure

Thank you for the replies.

It appears to HAVE been an issue with the ATI (video card) drivers.. oi.

I went through the pains of upgrading to 03.2 drivers and the new control panel - now it appears to be working again.. go figure.

Thank you again for your time.
