Help! MP3s sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks//need info on original in/output config

I loaded winamp today to discover that all of the songs are playing really fast. Last night, everything was fine, but there was a power outage in the middle of the night while the computer was on, and now there's a problem. Could this a winamp configuration problem (ie someone messing with the settings) or something else?

Should I try downloading a new version of winamp?

Is the same thing also happening in other players? (eg. WMP, Real, etc)
If so, then you need to reinstall your sound drivers, preferably the latest available version from the manufacturer's website.

If it's only happening in Winamp, then it would usually be a pitch/speed-control dsp plugin to blame. Prefs -> Plugins -> DSP/FX -> select "none"

If the problem persists, please provide more information about your system, eg. cpu, ram, soundcard, windows, directx, winamp version #

Also tell us which filetypes are affected, eg. mp3, wav, cda, midi, other, all?
And confirm that you are using the default input and output plugins, not 3rd-party ones.
Which Output plugin is currently active? DirectSound, WaveOut, other?
