no sound on random songs

for some reason im not getting sound when my playlist finishes a song. for example, i listen to one song and it ends and the next one starts to play (the seconds begin to count up) but there is no sound at all. the little sound bars even move. so i have to double click on the song and it starts to work fine. the weird thing is, it isnt constant. some songs do it some dont. any ideas on how to fix this?

Basic system specs: cpu, ram, sound, windows os, directx version
Winamp version # (latest = v2.91)
File formats affected? (midi, cda, mp3, wav, other, any/all)
A list of any 3rd-party plugins installed? (input, output, dsp, general)
Using WaveOut or DirectSound Output?

64 MB ram
crystalwave sound

winamp: v2.91
affects mp3s and wmas

no plug ins
