Clicks and Crackles when playing CDs

After solving the CDDB problem (only had to register Doh!), now when ever I play CDs, it crackles and clicks on constantly, and loud too. Some reason it didn't happen before, I've install the CD reader Plugin too.

Ok, are you using DirectSound Output? Does your problem still occur when using WMP[Windows Media Player] or any other audio player you might have?

It doesn't happen with any other player, wmp or powerDVD, just winamp playing CD.

What is Direct Sound control and what should be ticked n there?

Have Winamp open. Press Ctrl + P. You should see the preferences. Go to [Output] -> select [DirectSound] -> [Configure] -> [Reset All]

Your best bet would be to reset just in case you may have changed smething by mistake, then again, you might be also using WavOut. DirectSound is a smoother output than WavOut, thus the crackling sound.
