In WinAmp 2.9 - 2.9.1 some ogg files don't played correctly
In WinAmp 2.9 - 2.9.1 some ogg files don't played correctly ("Era" - "The Mass" - "The Mass"), with noise (clicks), they played correctly if you disable in "Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v1.32" "Dither" checkbox.
WHY ??? |

I have a similar problem which happen when opening an ogg file. Some of them play correctly, but others don't with winamp 2.90 or 2.91, they played correctly with winamp 2.8x (I also had to replace in_vorbis.dll in order to "fix" the problem). If you want me to send you a problematic ogg file, I can do it, but please fix this bug, I don't want to reencode 200 ogg files...

I'm having this problem too. A bunch of albums i recently encoded won't play. (No sound, Winamp just skips to the end of the file without an error)
Encoded with OggEnc v1.0 (oggenc.exe) from the Vorbis website. eg file: length : 3:54 average bitrate : 179 kbps file size : 5,249,457 bytes nominal bitrate : 192 kbps channels : 2 sampling rate: 44100 Hz serial number: 21416 version : 0 vendor : Xiph.Org libVorbis I 20020717 These files do play with the Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v1.2.2 plugin that comes with Winamp v2.81. |

There is a older thread in the bottom of the list, YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE ID3 tag of your ogg files, or they will be corrupt.
read the thread I read, Everything for me is in order now |

thanks clyde, but i think i'll just keep running 2.81 until it gets sorted out. (I don't want to go through all my oggs and rip out the info tags)

No, you'll have to do the removal of the ID3V2 tags. Otherwise, you'll never be able to play in any other player that was updated recently, this is a change required by Xiph.Org, the organisation behind Vorbis. ID3V2 tags are illegal, they break compatability with Vorbis hardware based players. Vorbis uses its own tagging format, which is much better and less braindead compared with ID3V2.
If you see the thread mentioned by clyde, there's a program that can easily remove all of these ID3V2 tags from your Vorbis files. Last edited by Wish; 19th April 2003 at 13:55. |

aww man.
My cd ripper program is the culprit here, it seems to add the tags by default. (changed setting now...) I hope i can find some software to chop the tags automagically cos i don't wanna hafta go through all the files manually thanks for the info Wish |
