Various problems

Hi, I just downloaded Winamp 3 and 2.9, because I read some bad opinions while downloading 3, and so far I like 3 the most ('cause it looks better I guess) but there is a problem, in 2.9 I can put a cd with 12 directories and just point to the root (E:\) and it automatically puts all 12 albums in the playlist, in 3 it doesn't work, I guess there's something wrong with the 'recurse directory' option.

Another thing, if I open an m3u list (from Explorer) and then another one, the second one replaces the first one, isn't there a way to just add it?

Also, when I use bookmarking in a playlist, I would expect the whole playlist to be remembered, why would I want just the song I was on when I made the bookmark?

Is there a way not to use ID3 tags? some songs I have are named correctly but don't have the tag.

All in all I'm very pleased with it. BTW, 3 takes quite a while longer to start, around 6 seconds on my pIII450.

Just right click the playlidt and select thr "encue in Winamp" option.

Can't help you with your root directory problem. Recommend you keep using Winamp 2.X until the next major Winamp release is out.

2.91 is actually newer and seems to be under more constant development then Winamp 3 at the moment. You'll have to miss those freeform skins for a while though. Personally that doesn't bother me too much since I like the funcionality of the skins with standard window layout.

Just turn of the read from ID3 tags in your preferences - plug ins - input- Nullsoft MPEG Audio Decoder - Configure.

Your ID3 Tags should be ignored then. You might as well try updating them manually in the library and see if they are displayed properly afterwards.

Only true for Winamp 2x. If using Winamp3 you'll need a proggie that can mass-edit ID3 tags.

Examples:

1. Mp3Tagger
2. ID3-Tagit

No. You were right. Canasto said he has BOTH Winamp 2.90 and Winamp3 installed. I just added the bit for Winamp3 in.

Thanks a lot for your responses, now I feel a bit silly for not checking the right click menu of the explorer, btw, what I did was change the default action of OPEN to ENQUEUE for both mp3 and m3u files so I can just double click them, also it's good for making autorun menus for mp3 cd's. Also the other suggestions worked, I had no idea the default winamp installation worked through plug-ins so I hadn't checked them out, changed lots of options, isn't there some sort of online documentation for winamp?
