Setting the playing period

Couple of years ago i found a DSP/effect component, which set up the period of time each audiofile was palyed. Since then my computer has crashed and I couldn't find the component.

I found the "60 seconds of fame", that does the trick. There is just two problems: The time can't be changed and winnamp crasches when the time is up

So how can I set the playing time?
