certain mp3 playback problems

I am using winamp3 with windows xp on a p2 400 with 320 megs of ram and plenty of drive space to handle things, and the player works fine for me, except with particuar mp3's. for example: rage against the machine's cover of "fuck the police" and two local band's mp3s (i could send a link to the second for you to check the problem out). both are encoded in 128k and the only message i get is the xp "send, don't send" bs right before WA closes abruptly. this doesn't happen with any other files i've played, and it's the only problem i've had with the program.

i could use some help on this one.

You posted this in an inappropriate thread that has nothing to do with your problem. I have "split" that thread and placed your post within it's own thread/topic, where it belongs.

Anyway...

The MP3s might be corrupted.
Test them with MP3Utility. Repair them with VBRfix.
If the MP3 VBR header for any MP3 is screwed up, use VBRfix to both test and repair the MP3(s).

thanks, i made a mistake there and couldn't quite erase that one to put it in its own place.

they had played without a hitch on winamp 2.64, what i had been using prior to switching to WA3. neither one uses a VBR, but i'll check out the utilities.

whoa.....new issue

it worked for about 2 plays on those two files, then repeated the same issue, closing winamp with the microsoft message

the craziest part of it is that the file still plays in the background as the message is displayed
