Server location

Can any one tell me why does it seem that when I use a relay server on internetradio.nu i get less listeners. If I use one on streamguys I get more people listening.

This confuses me as it really shouldn't matter where your server is on the net. Yes I realise there will be some routing issues. But not as drastic as I've seen.

Any ideas??

Maybe the connection quality isn't as good and people don't stay long to listen.
