One Question
I'm getting this message and I believe it's causing me to not be able to connect... everything else is running smoothly now, though.
<04/28/03@19:43:38> [main] error opening client socket! FATAL ERROR! Some other process is using this port! What can I do? |

Either try another value for portBase (default is 8000) (see below) and/or see if this thread helps.
The default section of the DNASs sc_serv.ini/conf file is: code: |

Thank you, I looked over everything and tried what it said, but it's not helping. When I have the DestIP set at what I want it on, it atleast lets me connect, but the source client won't work. When the DestIP is back at ANY, it says that my computer can't be viewed because of a firewall or something. I don't have a firewall...any more help to offer?

Set DestIP back to any and use "localhost" (without the quotes) or "127.0.0.1" (without the quotes) for the Address in the DSP.
I'm assuming the DNAS and Winamp/DSP combo are on the same machine. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Do you have a firewall and/or router? Please post the exact DNAS error message. |

Yes, I have a router. But I don't have a firewall. It's disabled. I disabled it in the preferences about connections.

Did you configure the router to forward (some routers call this "virtual server") the necessary port(s) to the DNAS machine?

How am I meant to do that? Is that done by configuring something in the IP Address/Router configuration?

just because you do not have a firewall doesn't mean you will be able to be seen from the internet, alot of home routers use what is called NAT or Network Address Translation to route packets from you to the outside internet and vice versa. To determine whether your router does this or not look up the ip of your machine by going to Start -> Run and type ipconfig and hit enter if you see your IP address as a network IP or 10.X.X.X or 192.X.X.X then your on a router that uses Network Address Translation, consult your manual about what is called 'Forwarding' to get your DNAS machine to be seen by the outside world.

What if when I do this, nothing happens? Nothing pops up? It all just stays the same..

68.46.184.212:8000 is Closed
Reason Given: Connection timed out More about this error: This means that you are most likely behind a firewall, this error esentially says that you and your computer aren't there. You might also check to be sure that your ip is 68.46.184.212, if it is not then you are behind some sort of proxy. |
