Lion King - thank you for your help, this method does work in WinAmp 2.91 which i just downloaded and installed. i am glad to not have to use WMP9 anymore for playback and now WinAmp seems does video too!!

SimonSez07, if you choose to use WMP 9 to rip your CDs, you have to give up the option of using Winamp to play the files. But anyway, why would you rip to .WMA anyways?
...
Ohh, and don't forget to check out Vorbis.com. OGG Vorbis is basically the best filetype to rip music too since the MP3. You can find tons of information about it on their site.[/B]

GoldenSphynx - I choose .WMA for the option of LOSSLESS and the convenience offered by Windows Media Player.
Distributing these lossless media files to people who are not very technically inclined doesnt require them to install anything. And, yes, OGG is VERY GOOD but it is not lossless.
ethan_h - it seems youre right. lossless and wma pro do seem to be something else completely, im glad i can use direct show plugin to play them in winamp.
