mu3 files

What is the difference between mu3 and wav files? Why aren't the files converted to wav and not mu3? How can I convert them? Thanks.

MU3? Never heard of it.
Did you mean M3U?

M3U files are playlists.
They don't contain any audio data.
Open one in Notepad and you'll see that all an M3U contains is just text links to files on your drive/s or the internet.

Or did you mean MP3 files?

WAV files are uncompressed audio waveforms
MP3 is a compressed WAV

I didn't quite understand this sentence either. It doesn't make much sense.

That is correct, sorry, in winamp 2.91 they converted to m3u's. I don't understand how the process in 2.91 works. How the heck do you make them into wavs that can be played elsewhere? Thanks.

Please explain what it is you're trying to do exactly.
What do you want to convert to what, and why?
You refer to "they" and "them" in your post above . . . but what exactly are "they" and "them". Please expand on this mystery.

The only way to create/save an m3u playlist in Winamp is via:
Playlist -> List button -> Save

But all this does is save the current playlist to an m3u playlist file.

If you want to convert some files to WAV for whatever reason, then use the DiskWriter Output plugin.

You tell us . . .

Now we're getting somewhere.

MIDI to WAV Tutorial

Note: Where it refers to Winamp2 MIDI Plugin (Winamp 2.8x and earlier), it is now called Nullsoft MIDI Player plugin in Winamp 2.9x

ps.
btw, the DiskWriter plugin is included by default with Winamp.
