Strange slow-motion sound playback

Whenever an audio cd is played in winamp[2.91] the first track plays fine. However when i skip to another track, it plays back slowly. It sounds like it is in slow-motion. This 'slow-motion' continues for anything else in windows (games, etc.) until the computer is rebooted.

This doesn't happen when playing MP3s, only audio CDs. Playback is FINE in Winamp 3 however Winamp 2 is so much better. There are no 3rd party plugins or anything installed. And i have tried all the output plug-ins.

I've got
-windows xp home
-NVIDIA nForce audio
-amd xp2000

need to know anything else, just ask.

any form of help is GREATLY appreciated.

Is "digital audio extraction" enabled or not?

Prefs -> Plugins -> Input -> CD plugin -> config:
Checkmark "enable d.a.e." (requires winamp restart)

Yes. Try it.
Report back here if the problem persists even with DAE enabled.

You heard correctly. It also won't do any harm to search the pc or mobo manufacturer's site for a driver update for your onboard sound chip.

Turning on DAE does not stop the problem. I downloaded and installed a free plugin it think its called CD Reader. Well i guess you can tell by the name what it does. this plug-in works for me and i get no more slow-motion weird sound. if you want i am willing to test different things with the old plug in to see what exactly causes the bug.

thanks alot dj egg for your quick responses.

Hmm . . . strange.
Not sure, but possibly something to do with your onboard sound chip / drivers.

Yeah, I used CDReader plugin for years until 2.9x came out
(2.81 and earlier didn't include native DAE support).
It's still a top plugin....

Make sure you've got the latest CDReader v1.95 from the author's site.
