What exactly does USR1 signal do?

ah, so if I wanted to make my own frontend to shuffle, I could just set my script to generate a new shuffled playlist every "interval of the lenghth of the playlist" and then send the USR1 signal.

My goal is to make a fronend to allow for requests. I figure this would require shuffle to be turned off, so i would have to shuffle the playlist manually.
Then when a request is made, I can insert the song.

Now its a matter of figureing out how often a reshuffle is required since requests can screw all this up.
