What exactly does USR1 signal do?

If I'm on song 5 on my play list.
and song 10 is requested, then songs 6,7,8, and 9 get skipped and are never played.

Oh, it looks like you edited your post or my memory is bad.

If I have 15 songs on my playlist, I would want to reshuffle after around 15 songs have played so it stays random.

yes I would not have to reshuffle after a request, I would just move the songs from above the requested song down to after the last song on my play list.

Since I can setup a cron job to reshuffle based based on a time interval, the playlis t would still be reshuffled around the same time.
