unexplainable .mp3 conversions

I was looking for my recently installed mIRC plugin and clicked configure while "Nullsoft Diskwriter plug-in v2.0c (x86)" was highlighted. i didnt change anything and hit cancel coz it wasn't what i was lookin for, now everytime i play a song, it converts it to .wav format without playing the song. any ideas?

In Winamp...
Ctrl+P (for preferences) > Plug-ins > Output > select DirectSound (for WinXP or Win2000) or waveOut (for Win 9x, ME or NT4)

thnx but i went brute force and stupidity and just dumped it and reinstalled. thnx for your info, appreciate it.
