Website

This plug-in really should have a website. This forum thread is so messy. Just a simple site with downloads, faqs, maybe a small forum and a simple feature request/bug system. Maybe you guys could make a sourceforge.net project on this? (I can set it up for you if you want). This would make it very easy for people to participate in this great project!

You see, this is a leaked plug-in. It's not officially supported by Nullsoft in any way. So of course there isn't a website or bug reports or feature requests available.
However, the source code is included in the zip...

Seeing as the source code is out, maybe this page might be helpful.

Oh, so this plug-in is not made by the guys who are posting the downloads? But is a beta plug-in made by Nullsoft which they haven't released?

A workaround at best: Try to transfer a file to the ipod with Ephpod, Itunes or whatever and then try using the winamp plug-in.. I couldn't either upload music on my clean ipod..

Because my smart playlists depend on the ratings, play counts, etc. that are already well-established in iTunes.

Speaking of which, are smart playlists possible with Winamp in the same manner in which they are available via iTunes?

thx for help.

RobinR: Smart playlists is an iTunes thing. And I don't think you can transfer ratings and play counts from iTunes to Winamp. Stick with iTunes, you sound like a happy iTunes user.

I made a small modification to this plugin to support any file extention (.mp3, .m4a, .m4p, .mp4 etc) to reflect up and coming new stuff in winamp 5

Download: http://www.harrison-fisher.co.uk/wil...ipod-v0.2a.zip

AFAIK, the ipod will play and transfer files with mp3, m4b(audible book), m4p (protected aac), and m4a(mp4 audio only?) as well as( I think) aiff and wav extensions, but not files with an mp4 extension. With will's latest change, the plugin refuses to transfer files named *.m4p but renaming them to *.m4a allows them to transfer, display, and play correctly.

-=Gonzotek=-

I was away for a while.
But I'm feeling much better now.

Right!
I don't have any m4p files to play with, but it works with everything else.

I've tried with .m4a renamed to .m4p and it transfers (and plays) fine and dandy.

[edit: also it tansfers and plays m4a renamed to mp4 files fine]
[edit2: get on irc dammit, gonzo ]

I'm there, now where are you?

Anyway, I just tried ripping again, and yes...it's making m4a's...did yesterday's build (not the ipod plugin, winamp5.02b2) not do that? I thought I observed it yesterday making mp4s.

Anyway, I can now confirm that 5.02b3 (clean install) + your modified iPod plug DOES work with Winamp created m4as.

Sorry for the confusion.

Yeah that'd be sweet. If i have time i might put it in. (As a subtree on the main treeview?)

To summerise, use this ipod plugin, it doesn't suck.

So, anyone got the time to make a quick "Eject iPod" when you right-click the iPod in devices-list?

Don't use playlists - play music the way the artist intended - complete album, track by track.

well said, but for workouts and such, i like my playlists, if the winamp Views could be made into playlist files or the itunes smartlist files could be made into m3u's itd be awesome

Disagree, partly. Most of the time I do listen to an album or one artist, most on random. Because I want the music to have flow, unity and maybe a general theme. The theme being instruments used, tempo, lyrical subject, or whatever. BUT some and most cds have a few songs that don't really fit in with all the other songs.

Yes! Yes! Yes! Awesome, will. This is so cool. For starters, the iPod plugin's so much faster & easier to browse/search/update with than ephpod or Xplay, adding playlists is icing on the cake. If you can't tell I'm thrilled.

The 'don't copy over already existing songs' feature doesnt work (I'm using the version from the plugins page), so theres no way for my to do a sync with my library unless I manually pick out all the updated songs. Not so good... or am i a mess-up?

Sheeit. I don't need an sync or an unmount feature. With Winamp it's easy to update manually (I've made a main-adds view in the ml). With playlists I'm all set.

Ok, i've got the creation, renaming and deleting of playlists going solidly. But before I release, I am going to add the following:

Synch Playlists (shouldn't be too hard, and would be incredibly useful)
Unmount (which is almost crucial now, due to the changes i've made)
