Problems Burning
I've been having a problem burning CDs with Winamp 5.01 recently. I try to burn a cd, and it seems like it's working. Then about halfway through the actual burn process (after it's already "prepared" the songs), it says done. I try to play the cd, and about the first half of the songs play but the rest don't. Half the time the CDs burn all the way through and half the time the don't.
My drive is a LITE-ON, and I'm running XP Pro. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I seem to be having something similar. It prepares all the songs, then goes through burning them. it then stops part way though, part way through a song. Says done!, all the tracks turn to burned instantly, but the CD reads as blank.
Using XP Pro, Liteon burner LTR-32123S, athlon 2400+, 512Meg ram 2Gig+ hard disk space free. Tried doing a test burn, same thing. tried various speeds, and no burn protection, same thing. There isn't a firmware upgrade available for the burner that I can find. I bought winamp pro trying to get this working, still doesn't work (I know, pretty stupid to pay for something I _know_ doesn't work). Any luck anyone? Seem to be a few similar posts with liteon drives, could just be coincidence though. Drive has worked fine with everything else. |

It usually seems to stop at about the second/3rd track, sometimes further in (depending what settings I'm fiddling with). I tried a simulated burn of one track, and it actually got to close the CD. The track still said (95%) complete until the end, if thats significant.
Its not a particular track that breaks it, rearranging things doesn't seem to help. |

Have you tried this with various different songs. I have found that some songs are embeded with bad code to prevent burning. So, instead of burning correctly it either messes up the burn process or it makes an unplayable CD. This isn't neccesarily a problem with Winamp. Try using different software to see if the burn works.

I've tried the same songs/files on a different machine, and it seems to work ok. That had a sony burner and intel 2800 CPU.

Same problem as you today (only 2 songs burned out of 23, all of them MP3) with 5.02 pro upon a good configuration and a HP dvd-writer.
Trying to read this CD had hanged Winamp. No problem burning with RecordNow. It was my first try and I am very disappointed for my daughter. That said I like very much this new version after the 3 one. |

Your problem could easily be with your burning drive. I had a liteon DVD and burner that came with my computer. The DVD player is now dead and useless and the burner doesn't burn. If you can still burn with other programs, I would take it as a sign that the burner is on the fritz and is about to die. Sorry to break the bad news, but LiteOn sucks llama balls. As soon as I can afford to, I am replacing my CD and DVD drives.
