WA 5.03 clean install, WinXP SP1.
Long WMA files (over 7 mins approx) have their playing times misreported. The files still play in their entirety, but the counter and progress bar both stop after reaching the misreported time. After some testing, I have found that the maximum correct length reported is 7:09. After that, the playing time resets and starts counting from zero again. So a song of length 8:09 shows as only being 1:00 long. Files shorter than 7:09 are unaffected. This problem did not exist in 5.01 or 5.02. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Confirmed & Reproduced. Thanks. Note: New experimental in_wm.dll with WMA9 support [/Edit] |

Docking bug found... when you use the new dock feature in winamp 5.03 to the bottom and then click "Show Desktop" in windows the docked player disappears... with other windows like Playlist etc it does still show them This has been confirmed
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=174895 "Probably a bug. I just tried it for the hell of it, even though by the sound of it it seems to be a bug. I docked the PL editor, and hit Show Desktop twice. The Winamp Main and ML windows showed up, as normal, but the docked playlist didn't. I hit the PL button twice, and it re-appeared. Most likely a bug." my specs: Windows XP sp1 512MB DDR ATI Radeon 9600pr Athlon xp 2600+ Logitech Cordless Keyboard (iTouch 2.20.243) Winamp 5.03 Regards Robsworld |

Hi.
I tested some old MOD sounds with 5.02 and 5.03 and found that the sound output of these files has very degraded in 5.03. (After I reinstalled 5.02 the output was in the old good state.) What happend to the MOD output in 5.03? Regards, svebor |

bug in "toggle playlist/song repeat" in winshade mode,by clicking the repeat button 2 times it's on song repeat mode but it doesn't repeat , it works only in normal mode .
my specs : intel 2.4 GHZ 512 DDRAM nvidia geforce 4 MX460 SE Creative Live [Edit --> DJ Egg] Well spotted. Confirmed & reproduced. Hmm, if it's already on 'repeat one' in normal mode, when I go to winshade mode, (though 'repeat one' does work this way round), I'm getting a small pink square where the repeat button should be... Hmm. Getting reports back from the beta list of people not being able to reproduce this. Weird. Gonna try a clean install... Anyone else? [/Edit] |

Or is it not Winamp related? I used Winamp 5.0.2 & 5.0.3 with both I have those Problems. Sry to post my problem again but this is driving me crazy. When I can't find a slution in the near future I'm going to reinstall my system and hope after it is done it will work properly again. [Edit --> DJ Egg] No, can't reproduce, not happening here. Remove 3rd-party plugins, try a clean install. If problem persists, post in tech support, and include a StartUpList log. [/Edit] |

Modern Skin Bug?

Mobo [MSI KT3 Ultra] CPU [1-AMD XP, 1533MHz, 256KB (14% Load)] mem[Usage: 146/256MB (57.03%)] hdd[33.48GB/56.23GB] gfx[NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4800 SE] Driect X 9 Winamp 5.03a 1. Open winamp with the modern skin 2. Drop down the config 3. Change the main window size Then a big gap apears bewteen the title bar/menu and the rest of the skin (see pic). Then if you close winamp and re-open it, the video/avs window will be open. This even happens when said windows are detached from the skin, with even worse results. |

Non-ascii problem
Media Library refused to import some of my MP3s with kanji/katakana/hiragana characters for file names, even after I put them in the desgnated directory(s). Rescan Media Folders simply won't import them into database. I have to remove the japanese characters (by renaming them) to be able to import them. Playing the files in the playlists is fine though.

small bug, but sux.
winamp 5.03 clean install win98/win2k, two different computers... winamp is allowing multiple instances from sortcut or play option in explorer context menu, in this case winamp5 will play several musics or videos at same time, even the option is unchecked at preferences. to reproduce: 1 - make a clean install 2 - use "ctrl+P" to access 'General Preferences' dialog and verify if the box "Allow Multiple Instances" is unchecked - if is, uncheck-it 3 - try to load multiples instances of winamp - or - 3 - load several files from windows explorer - The resolution is simple, just enable the option to allow multiple instances and click 'ok' to close the dialog, restart winamp5, use 'Ctrl+P' and disable again the option, hit 'ok' to close the window and restart winamp5(again) note: without restart winamp5 will not affect the changes , at least not with me. but every time that is required to make a clean install of winamp5, this steps are needed to be followed again.. |

ehh not sure if youd consider this a bug, with the modern skin or the docking feature, not sure if its been posted yet. Or if its just how its supposed to work, but when you have the shade mode docked on the bottom of the screen, then attach the playlist to it, then put the playlist in shade mode, the player gets docked couple inches obove the bottom. i can see why it does this but i just thought id mention it.

Winamp 5 CANNOT open .AIF files. When i try to play those files, it gives me an error message(Compressed AIFC files other than 4-bit IMA ADPCM are not supported) . I installed Winamp 2, and it plays them!!!
I would certanly classify this as a bug. Hope it gets fixed soon P.S. When I replace the Winamp 5 DLLs in the Plugin folder, with the DLLs from Winamp 2 , it plays the AIF files |

Winamp 5.03 Playlist BUG
Hi All,
First of all sorry my English (I'm from Hungary...). I found a little "BUG" in Winamp 5.03's Playlist. When I have only WMAs in my playlist and I use "Enqueue Selected Q" function (Right Click on a track -> Jump To File -> Enqueue Selected Q). For Example winamp play the Track01.wma and I use this function on Track05.wma, the end of Track01 winamp play correctly the Track05.wma BUT Track02.wma will have an "[Opening]" tag and it isn't dissapear. I hope You can understand me and reproduce it, if not [:-)] here is a screen capture... (atachment) Spec: Abit nf7 AMD 2200+ 512 MB RAM 40 GB HDD GeForce 2 MX400 Windows XP (SP1) Winamp RULEZ! :-) |

sEsE123: it's a known limitation of the queue plugin where it will start to play the next song before it forces the next song in the queue to play. by the time of 5.04 i hope to have fixed this (though it involves a lot of work on my part to get it working)

The following happens 1.Start the freshly installed winamp 5.03a and close all the windows expept the main window 2.Switch to windowshade mode and strech the windowshade window so that you can see the repeat button. 3.Click the repeat button 2 times. Now you should see that you have "repeat track" mode 4.Switch back to normal mode. Ooops!! The repeat button has magically toggled to "repeat playlist" mode. So the normal mode looks like we have playlist repeat mode, the windowshade mode looks like we have track repeat mode and winamp acts like we have playlist repeat mode toggled (I tested it with a playlist) Also 1.Again start the freshly installed winamp5.03a and close all the windows except the main window 2.In normal mode click the repeat button 2 times and the icon changes (as expected) to repeat track 3.Switch to windowshade mode and strech the windowshade window to see the repeat button. It appears like we have repeat playlist mode toggled Also 1.Again start the freshly installed winamp5.03a and close all the windows except the main window 2.Strech the main window enough so that in windowshade mode all buttons would appear. I streched it to about 900pixels 3.I toggled to windowshade and I pressed that small button next to the right edge of the songticker to be able to see the repeat button in windowshade mode 4.Click the repeat button 3 times. Obviously you cycle though all repeat modes and end up in the "no-repeat" mode (where you started) 4.Switch back to normal mode. 2.In normal mode click the repeat button 2 times and the icon changes (as expected) to repeat track 3.Switch to windowshade mode. In the place of the repeat button there is a pink square as DJegg reported. Sorry for talking about an already reported bug but I thought that giving some extra info about the exact procedure for reproducing the bug would be hepfull. |

Winamp crashes while logged in as a user
I have a clean install of Winamp 5.0.0.3
When I play any MP3 file with Winamp while logged into Windows XP as a "limited" user, not the "owner", I get an error after a few seconds. Naturally Windows XP asks if I want to send the error report to Microsoft (I don't), and then Winamp closes. Everything is fine when logged in as the "owner". I actually installed Winamp while logged in as "owner". HERE IS THE ERROR THAT POPS UP: Error signature AppName: winamp.exe AppVer: 5.0.0.3 ModName: gen_ml.dll ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 0000826d Exception Information Code: 0xc0000005 Flags: 0x00000000 Record: 0x0000000000000000 Address: 0x000000000180826d Here is something very interesting from the System Information Tool (partial list only): [Program Groups] Group Name Name User Name AOL Instant Messenger (SM) Default User:AOL Instant Messenger (SM) Default User Winamp Default User:Winamp Default User Adobe All Users:Adobe All Users Adobe\Acrobat All Users:Adobe\Acrobat All Users MusicMatch All Users:MusicMatch All Users Note: I installed Music Match because I kept getting errors with Winamp. Apparently the problem may be the result of Winamp being setup with the UserName set as "Winamp", not "All Users". All of these setting were automatic, I did not set them, Adobe and Music Match Jukebox were also installed while I was logged in as "owner". I will try to change the setting for Winamp manualy my self, but you may want to look at getting it to set the permissions for "All Users" automaticly at install. ----------------------------------------------------------- The following is a long list of my system (partial list) System Information (As reported by the error report) Windows NT 5.1 Build: 2600 CPU Vendor Code: 68747541 - 69746E65 - 444D4163 CPU Version: 000006A0 CPU Feature Code: 0383FBFF CPU AMD Feature Code: C1C3FBFF This is the error listed with System Information: 4/10/2004 2:08 PM Application Error Faulting application winamp.exe, version 5.0.0.3, faulting module gen_ml.dll, version 0.0.0.0, fault address 0x0000826d.

Hello,
It seems there is a bug with the graphic equalizer audio processing : it creates "pops" in the sound. How to reproduce: Take any mp3 which is not too loud and has not much rythm (whatever slow ambience music that has a very few instruments playing, not that "dozen of strings nature music" thing). Open the EQ, reset all bands to 0dB. Move up any slider (the lower the frequency, the more the pops are audible, so try with 60Hz first) to +12dB (maximum) and move the preamp down to -12dB (minimum) to avoid any clipping. Play the song and you'll here some pops there and there (from one every few seconds to a few per second). Whatever output plugin is used doesn't matter (including the disk writer). Brigning back the boosted frquency to 0dB actualy removes all pops (that is, it plays mormaly) I have : Winamp 5.03 full install My system (it probably doesn't matter at all, since it seems to be quite "internal" to winamp, but here it is anyway): ASUS a7v8x, Athlon XP 2200, 512MB RAM Onboard sound card ASUS TI-4200 AGP 8X (GeForce4) Windows XP SP1 DirectX 9.0b Should you need it, I can provide a short mp3 sound sample that clearly reproduces the bug. Just e-mail me! Keep on your good work! [Edit --> DJ Egg] Can't reproduce this! Update your sound drivers, and/or post in tech support. [/Edit] |

I have an interesting error that might just be cause of my computer, but i guess i should still tell you about it.
Specs, Version: 5.03 Full CPU: 797mHz Celeron OS: XP Pro RAM: 384MB Direct X: 8.1 Sound / Vid: Intel Intigrated (you can tell it's an older computer, so thats why it might not be winamp) The problem seems to only happen when i want to choose my song from the playlist manually. "[openeing]" shows up when files open, and it never really resolves, and forces 1. the song to skip like it was in an old CD player. and 2. Winamp to crash. Ive never had this happen in any other version but 5.03 i have attaced an image to show you what i mean. At hte time of the screenshot i was running Mozilla 1.6 , FlashMX Professional, and DeadAIM. |

Equalizer slider count sequence
Searched for EQ, EQUALIZER, and SLIDER without finding this bug so here's my report.
Bug (more like an annoyance): EQ sliders count down +0.0, -0.6, -0.10, -1.3... EQ sliders count up +7.8, +8.6, +8.10, +9.3... System specs: Winamp 5.03a (clean install) G2k SOLO2550 rev 1.0, P-III 500, 288 MB XP Pro SP1 Silicon Motion Lynx EM ESS Maestro2E PCI AudioDrive (WDM) DX9.0b (4.09.0000.0902) ETA: I accidentally posted this as a separate thread. I would delete it but I don't see a 'Delete Thread' button anywhere. Can one of the mod's dispose of it? TIA |

Then copy new files in the now empty playlist. After the playing file fades out, the second file in the playlist starts playing, not the first file ... try it ![]() |

I was watching some clips of Alan Partridge just then, and had the winamp video window in the corner.
When it goes to the next video file, it is no longer on top, but if i make it fullscreen and then back to how it was, it is then on top. I am running 5.03. Shouldnt be too hard to sort? Nice one. |

Swapping from visulisation to video
I'm running Winamp 5.03 on WinXP with a Nvidia Gforce 4 with the latest drivers (1/4/2004). I am using the standard visualation (Advanced Visualization Studio 2.81b). My playlist has both mp3 and video files. With overlay mode switched on for both the visualisation and the video playback. When winamp goes from a mp3 showing the vis full screen on my TV to a video the overlay stops and there's no video on my TV.
I've tried changing dual-screen modes without any luck. I can make it switch from overlay video to overlay vis by using the option "Close video window when video stops" but there's no option like this for the vis. If I stop the playback of the video and start it again the overlay works fine as well as if I open the video display options in the preferences. |

Strange rendering bug in the ML in which the contents of the window move out of their proper place. This has happened since 5.0 Final.
Steps to reproduce: Isert a CD. CDDB will query its servers. As CDDB is querying, click anywhere in the ML. The upper left corner of the ML contents will snap to your cursor. Winamp 5.03 Windows XP SP1 AMD Athlon 1.8 GHz ATI Radeon 7000 DirectX 9.0 |

I don't know if this is a bug, or if this has been posted before, but the tooltips for the main window seem to be behind the equalizer using classic skins. For more detail of what I am talking about, see the atached sereenshot.

Eg the file: "Vampires_-_1x01_-_Part-1.[first-series].avi" appears as "Vampires - series].avi" or "Bob - S01E01 - Pilot.avi" as "Bob - Pilot". I know this is because winamp is trying to separate author from title as it does with .mp3s, but I'm sure you can appreciate it makes it harder to sort an entire collcetion into episode order. Perhaps at least an option to turn it off for movie files only? Also, don't know if its been reported before, but: the balance resets at the start of every song when using out_wave. Prefs -> ml -> library options: Use library data for Winamp title formatting Prefs -> Titles -> Advance Title Formatting Prefs -> ml -> Metadata Detection = smart/simple mode. Feature requests go in the Wishlist 2. Although waveOut is not recommended under Win2k/XP, I can't reproduce the WaveOut balance reset problem. Anyone else? Make sure balance is centralized in soundcard / windows control panel and 'reset to original value on stop' is not checked in waveOut config. |

As I explained initially in this post:
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....hreadid=177225 Winamp 5 seems to refuse to read Lyrics3 v2 tags. In the MP3 are present the audio data, lyrics3 tag & id3v1 tag, as it is supposed to be. I'm using Winamp 5.03, but had same problem with the 5.02. And last, the whole thing works fine with Winamp 2.9x (should be the last version avaible if my memory ain't leaninent). Hope this helps |

Docked Toolbar Bug
I am using Winamp 5.03 upgraded from 5.0 Final
I set my Winamp Modern skin to docked mode and attached it to the top of screen. Whenever I do this my settings are not saved when I exit the program. I found that they will save fine as long as winamp isn't docked. --RivenMan |
