small mp3 encoding bitrate
Hi,
I noticed while encoding some psf files to mp3 that the max bitrate is quite small, something like 56k, i was wondering if there was anyway to encode into a higher rate like 128 or 196? Thanks p.s. im not sure if this was supposed to go in the last thread i posted, so if it was sorry

ok, under the config menu for diskwriter, it has:
[check] Convert to format MPEG Layer-3 56 kBit/s, 24,000Hz, Stereo Correct? Next to that the (...) button, when you click that, can you open the drag down menu "Attributes" and scroll UP, mine goes to 320 Kbit/s 39Kb/s |

hmmm weird, no mine only goes up to 56 kBit/s. 24,000 Hz, Stereo 6kb/sec. I have a scroll bar and a bunch of different settings but they go down from there.

More of a system problem than Winamp really. Diskwriter uses whatever codecs are installed on your system, so it can only display the capabilities of what it has available.
Sounds very like you have the Fraunhofer advanced codec which is hopelessly outdated for encoding purposes. Install something like the Fraunhofer professional codec. Do a forum search with keyword 'Radium', this has been discussed recently. [edit] As a quick workaround you can set diskwriter to PCM and create a .wav file. Then use something like CDex to convert to a high quality Lame mp3 encode. [/edit] UJ |
