Are you sure your system is clean?

Do a scan with SpybotSD and Ad-Aware.

If that doesn't help you can also post a HijackThis log:
Start hijackthis.exe, press the scan button, it will change into "save log", press it again, change the extension from .log to .txt and attach the log to a new post via Post a Reply.
Don't let it fix anything unless you're absolutely sure what it is!
(ie. until someone here tells you exactly what to fix).

Make sure you've got the latest version of HijackThis (currently v1.99.1).

HijackThis v1.99.1 Direct Download:
HijackThis v.1.99.1.. (recommended installer version)
HijackThis v1.99.1 sfx.. (self-extractor version)
HijackThis v.1.99.1.. (exe file only, eg. for upgrades)
HijackThis v.1.99.1.. (exe file only, eg. for upgrades)
HJT v1.99.1.. (zipped exe, from author's site)
HJT v1.99.1.. (zipped exe, from author's alt site)

If all of the direct download links are down, then you can download HJT v1.99 at any of the following sites:
http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ (tutorial)
http://www.pchell.com/support/hijackthistutorial.shtml (tutorial)
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/htlogtutorial.html (tutorial)

If the .exe download links at thespykiller.co.uk and aumha.org are down, and you end up downloading a .zip file, be sure to unzip HijackThis.exe into a folder of its own before running it, eg.
C:\Program Files\HijackThis\

(otherwise, just save HijackThis.exe straight to said folder).

Click the "Scan" button.
This will then change to a "Save log" button.
Save the log as hijackthis.txt (not hijackthis.log)
and attach it to a new thread/post.

or just copy+paste ALL of the text into a new post.

in HJT v1.99.1, you can just click the "Do a system scan and save a log" button.

Do NOT try to fix anything with HJT before posting the log.
Many of the entries will be legit and even required, so unless you really know what you're doing, you must wait for advice from an expert first.

Please also include system specs, windows os, winamp version etc in your post.
Also confirm you've done a clean install of Winamp 5.08d with no 3rd-party plugins.

It's all down to guesswork without this info...

McAfee AV is currently reporting that HijackThis v1.99.1 contains a worm/virus (W32/Generic.worm!p2p).
This is a false-positive and has already been reported to McAfee.
Trust us! There is definitely no virus in that file.

This issue has been corrected with the latest Mcafee DAT files (17th Feb 2005)

More information here:

Update #2

Mar 31st 2005
The latest AVG dats are also having a similar problem to the McAfee one,
where it's falsely detecting hijackthis.exe as Backdoor.Small.28.AO trojan.

Again, this is a false-positive and will be fixed by Grisoft/AVG shortly.

More information here:

This issue has now been resolved by the latest AVG 266.9.1 definitions (April 2nd)
